Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

According to the IACP, Counselling tends to deal more with immediate issues that may have arisen more recently, for example bereavement or relationship breakdown. Psychotherapy tends to deal with deeper, more long-term issues that may be rooted in the past.

How often do I need to attend therapy?

This is a difficult question to answer and very dependent on the person asking. In the beginning I would recommend coming weekly. This can be increased in times of crisis or decreased as our work comes to a close. Everyone's needs and finances are different however, and frequency of visits can be discussed in our inital session.

How much is each session?

Each session is 50-60 minutes long and costs 60 euro. I have limited capacity for low cost counselling and see some clients at a reduced fee, depending on their circumstances. Please feel free to contact me and we can discuss this during our initial meeting.

Where do you work from?

I work from an office on MacCurtain Street in Cork City Centre. It is up a couple of flights of stairs so unfortuantly is not wheelchair accessible.

Who do you work with?

I work with adults on a one to one basis.

What times are you available?

I offer a range of morning, afternoon and evening appointments. I currently have availability on Thursdays and Fridays.
